My ex-husband&#8217;s family holds many family secrets. One of the more alarming ones was about a cousin whose husband left her, or so we were told. One afternoon the cousin called another family member to tell them that her husband had left her. Over the next several months the family would help her out as they could. They would bring her food for the children or help her to pay her bills. She worked a menial job that barely paid minimum wage so money was very tight for her. No word was heard from her husband and she never filed for divorce. We all thought that was rather odd, I mean after all, if she had filed for divorce she might be eligible for child support. The topic was broached several times, yet still, she didn&#8217;t file.
