Geophysics professor Dustin Schroeder from Stanford University has gathered a team of researchers to study Europa and Earth’s ice sheets using radar technology. What they happened to discover are many striking similarities between our planet and Jupiter’s moon. One of the most important similarities in the formation of double ridges which usually form when pools of water are available underground. Professor Schroeder mentions that the ridges which bare a similarity with ones present on Earth were formed by refrozen pockets of water. “If the same process covers the formation of the double ridges on Europa, then there would be pockets of water underneath these ridges all over Europa, suggesting that water may be much more abundant in the middle of the ice shelf than we would have<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
