The man, 20-year-old Justin Murrell, has a history of offenses dating back to when he was 15. In June 2017, Officer Dalsh Veve pulled Murrell for a traffic violation in East Flatbush. Murrell then drove off as Veve held onto the vehicle, getting dragged for three blocks which left him brain damaged and unable to speak. During his sentencing, Veve’s wife asked the court to dole out the maximum sentence of 10 years but Murrell was charged as a juvenile and walked away with just 1-⅓ to four years and was out on parole in March 2020.
